Soy Marcos Maldonado, fotógrafo autodidacta y chileno nómade, hoy viviendo en el sur y explorando los 4.270 kms de nuestro largo país.

Trabajo desde la contemplación y la curiosidad, buscando en la naturaleza aquello que suele pasar desapercibido a través de vuelos con drone o pasos a ras de suelo, intentando capturar lo frágil, lo mínimo, lo escondido.

Mi proyecto más reciente, titulado Desierto Imaginario, está en desarrollo desde 2022 y se extenderá hasta 2025. Es una exploración visual del norte de Chile, un intento por desmontar la idea de que el desierto es solo vacío o monotonía. A través de una mirada cercana y sensible, este trabajo revela su riqueza de formas, texturas y colores; su vida silenciosa. El objetivo no es documentar, sino reimaginar: ver en lo árido un territorio lleno de historia, belleza y posibilidades invisibles a primera vista.

I am Marcos Maldonado, a self-taught photographer and Chilean nomad, currently living in the south and exploring the 4.270 kms of our country.

I work from contemplation and curiosity, searching in nature what usually goes unnoticed through drone flights or ground level steps, trying to capture the fragile, the minimum, the hidden.

My most recent project, entitled Desierto Imaginario, has been under development since 2022 and will extend until 2025. It’s a visual exploration of Northern Chile, an attempt to dismantle the idea that the desert is only emptiness or monotony. Through a close and sensitive look, this work reveals its richness of shapes, textures and colors, its silent life. The goal is not to document, but to reimagine: to see in the dryness a territory full of history, beauty and possibilities invisible at first sight.
